Research description:

The research is realized in the framework of a federal research project, named EPOC 2030-2050 (Energy technology modelling framework for POlicy support towards a Cost-effective and Sustainable society in 2030 and 2050). Coordinated by EnergyVille, the project combines the expertise of 14 Belgian academic partners to link different energy models (e.g. techno-economic investment planning, generation dispatch models, transport and heating models, building and smart district, etc.) in the context of the long-term energy future in Belgium. In this project, the main focus of the ongoing PhD research is to investigate  different risk-attitudes of market actors and their impact on the economic efficiency of the short-term electricity markets. This involves data analysis and processing as well as advanced optimization techniques for optimally describing and analyzing the market setup and the corresponding agents' interactions.
