Biography:

Geoffrey Lossa received his degree in electromechanics civil engineering department from University of Lubumbashi (D.R. Congo) in 2005, and his M.Sc. degree in electrical engineering from University of Mons (UMONS), Belgium, in 2013. He worked first as a research assistant at Telecom and Electromagnetism group of UMONS. Since 2014, he joined the General Physics group as Assistant. In 2015, he is pursuing his Ph.D. thesis in the field of electromagnetic fields computation. His major research interests include modeling of synchronous generators, optimization and design of electromagnetic systems, as well as uncertainty quantification in computational electromagnetics.

In this research, we focus on the influence of geometrical and material uncertainties on extraction of RLC parameters of wound components (inductors principally). To that end, we use different approaches (Monte Carlo, Polynomial Chaos, etc.) according the dimension (2D or 3D modeling using finite elements) of the studied system, in order to analyze the gap between simulation and experimental measurements of their impedances along the wide range frequency (from DC to some MHz). In such studies, the propagation of uncertainties through deterministic model allows to determine the distributions of outputs parameters and to analyze the sensibility of the different input parameters.
